Gabriel Bismut and Maurizio Minardi met on the Parisian jazz scene at the end of 2016, when the latter had just moved to Paris. Their Italian origins and their taste for the beautiful melodies of film music quickly made them want to put together a project around their original compositions and arrangements paying homage to Nino Rota, Ennio Morricone, Astor Piazzolla and Jacques Brel. Having found, thanks to the addition of guitarist Barthélemy Seyer and contrabassist Maurizio Congiu, the sound which perfectly suited their music, they have traveled around France as a duo, trio or quartet, and performed more than 60 concerts in Paris and throughout France, but also in Italy and England.
Recently, the quartet has recorded its first album, entitled “Le Chat Brel”, under the artistic direction of Marc Berthoumieux. The album, which obtained financial support from ADAMI and FCM, has been released in November 2020 (Les Amis de la Musique Acoustique, Inouïe Distribution).
